This medicine is indicated in treatment of bacterial infection.

Abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, hearing problems, stomach/intestinal problems. Vancomycin may cause live bacterial vaccines (such as typhoid vaccine) to not work as well. Do not have any immunizations/vaccinations while using this medication unless your doctor tells you to.

A product that may interact with this drug is: cidofovir.

During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. It may rarely harm an unborn baby. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast- feeding.
