The combination of artemether and lumefantrine is used to treat certain kinds of malaria infections (a serious infection that is spread by mosquitoes in certain parts of the world and can cause death). Artemether and lumefantrine should not be used to prevent malaria.

Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, weakness, fever, chills, tiredness, muscle/joint pain, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, cough, and trouble sleeping may occur. If any of these effects persist after stopping the medication or if these effects worsen while taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug. Some products that may interact with this drug are birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy,n antidepressant,antibiotics, antifungal medicine, or medicine to treat tuberculosis,antiviral medicine to treat HIV or AIDS.

Before taking artemether/lumefantrine, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to artemether or lumefantrine; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: recent use (within the past month) of any medication to prevent or treat malaria (such as halofantrine, quinine, or quinidine), kidney problems, liver problems. Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while using this medication unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Grapefruit can increase the amount of this medication in your bloodstream. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.

Please consult your doctor when taking this medicine if you are pregnant. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
